The Salem Fiberarts Guild currently has 53
members. Our purpose is to promote interest
in the fiber arts in the community and to provide
a means of exchange of information to the membership.
Some of the ways in which we do this: hold regular
monthly meetings, publish the Salem Fiberarts
Guild newsletter, hold an annual Handweavers'
Sale, and demonstrate weaving and spinning.
The first Salem weaving guild was founded in
1947. The Salem Fiberarts Guild members were
previously two guilds; OWLS (Oregon Wheel & Loom Society) and SHG (Salem
Handweavers Guild). In September, 2001, we merged
into one guild, the Salem Fiberarts Guild.
Membership dues are $20.00 (individual) $27.50
(family) per year, beginning July 1. Benefits
include: monthly meetings, guild newsletter,
use of the guild library, and Friday Weavers
(an informal gathering for sharing, show &
tell and lunch).
The guild offers two meetings a month: the
fourth Tuesday at 7pm, the fourth Wednesday at
10am. Members are welcome to attend both and
visitors are always welcome. Guild meetings
are held at Mission Mill Museum's Textile Learning
Center, on the fourth floor of the historic
Mill Building. Guild members are volunteer partners
with Mission Mill. We do our best to accommodate
the Mill's needs in return for their generosity
relating to meeting, library, and studio space.
