Whatcom Weavers Guild was organized
in 1971 to promote community interest and education
in textiles, and communication among fiber artists,
with an emphasis on weaving. Membership is open
to all persons with an interest in fiber arts.
Dues are $17 per year.
Members are entitled to check out resource
materials from the Guild library and receive
a monthly newsletter announcing upcoming events.
Guild meetings are held September through June
on the second Wednesday of each month, beginning
at 7:00 p.m., at St. James Presbyterian Church,
910 14th Street, in Bellingham. Each meeting
begins with a half-hour of social time, followed
by a short business meeting and a program. Daytime
Weavers meets year-round, on the first Thursday
of each month. These informal meetings provide
an opportunity for Guild members
to socialize while working on their own handwork
projects or participating in a group activity.
Special interest workshops are held throughout
the year and are conducted by regional and national
experts in their respective fields. A fee is
charged to cover expenses. Spaces are filled
on a "first come, first served" basis,
with members having preference over non-members.
Each October, the Guild sponsors Fibers &
Beyond, a show and sale featuring members' work.
The 2007 sale will be held on October 19-20 at
Fox Hall in Bellingham.
