My interests center around color systems and personal symbolic textiles as expressed through the complexity of plain weave. In a broader context, I weave together the focused intention of an entire guild to create a powerful fabric of woven energy translated into the luxurious language of color.

Workshops/Programs

Bonnie’s Easy Ikat - This workshop is geared toward sharpening the sense of design and color while exploring this unique ikat variation. Prepare a skein of yarn for dyeing at home. Design and create a spontaneous warp from pre-dyed 3/2 cotton, 6 to 8 inches wide by 3 yards long. The workshop includes an exciting slide show and sumptuous samples, and it promises to add new dimensions to your creativity. Progam only available. Workshop length: one-day (6 hours)
Color: Finding the Colors Within -In a relaxed atmosphere, students build a chart of personal color associations, create collages based on these colors and explore weaving the collages together with unexpected and amazing results. Workshop length: half day (3 hours) one day (6 hours)

Color Horoscope Weaving - This workshop provides the opportunity to discover a unique method of color blending based on the 12 colors of the natural spectrum. Each dazzling warp becomes a personal rainbow. The signs of the zodiac and the planets in our solar system are merely the jumping off point for a challenging color experience. Program only available. Workshop length: one day (6 hours) two days (12 hours) or three days (18 hours).

Exploring Not-So-Plain Weave- Break free from the limitations of a small 4-harness loom and create fancy weaving as large as the imagination. Learn a unique method of color blending (Woven Words), design on the warping board with Easy Ikat and in the reed with skipped dent, discover exciting things to do with thrums and scraps, work with non-traditional wefts, practice spontaneous weaving from the heart, experiment with log cabin variations, joining techniques, and chenille tricks. All of this (and more) is accomplished in a warm and playful atmosphere, round robin style. Bonnie shares her secrets, hints and tips through beautiful slides, luscious examples and informative handouts. This workshop is designed for all weaving levels and can be tailored to fit all time slots from program to 3-day.
